Why

Why the fuck not?

No really, why the fuck not? As with all creative people, regardless of how long you lay your tools down, you will always at some point, come back to it. Whether you are a painter, writer, musician or some other form of creative cloud, you never divorce yourself from that side of your character. Sure, you may pursue other interests or facts of life, but lets face it, playing to a dozen people at The Civic Hotel or selling your paintings at the malaga markets is not going to pay the bills or feed the family. Unless you are one of the few who have risen to the heights of being self sufficent using just your craft, you will like the rest of the world's punters have to find you self working to make a living. But that does not mean handing in the keys to your creative side. Sure, you may take a while to get back to it. But ultimately, the drive to create in your chosen field will override your ignoring it, and like a moth to a flame, you will come home to it.

The same can be said for ZFD. Back in 2008, after a hiatus of a decade, Crit and Dave started tentatively writing again at David's Inglewood Home. Here they composed some of their earlier works, occasionaly with Craig Hyde joining in they began the tentative steps back towards the light.

So It Turns, Dragons Breath, Sarah Stevens and a couple of other songs were written this way. With Trev coming over and adding some timing, rythym and the all important structure, the first songs of Focus began to take form.

It was also at this time that they began to look at song writing as not so much a individual bringing a song to the table but rather a collaborave approach to creating a work. The input to each song centres around the entire band creating a song. It is to some degree the reason why there are so many differing styles or sounds influencing each track.
